| Frequency Doubling and Mixing Applications in Neodymium-Doped Laser

 

KTP crystals are the most commonly used materials for frequency doubling of Nd:YAG and other Nd-doped Laser, especially in Laser Source with low to medium power densities.Until now, Nd-doped gain lasers using KTP crystals for intracavity and extracavity frequency doubling have become common pump sources and amplifiers for visible dye Laser and tunable titanium Sapphire lasers.This Laser Source is also widely used as a Green(515/532nm) light source in many scientific and industrial applications.Through out-of-cavity frequency doubling, the 900mJ seed-injected Nd:YAG Q-switched Laser Source can obtain a 700mJ Green(515/532nm) output with a conversion efficiency close to 80%.15WLD Pumped Nd:YVO Using Intracavity KTP Crystal Frequency DoublingHourLaser Source, 8W Green(515/532nm) output can be obtained.KTP crystals can also be used for intra-cavity 810nm diode pump light and 1064nm Nd:YAG Laser mixing to produce blue light, and 1300nm Nd:YAG Laser Source or Nd:YAP Laser Source for intra-cavity frequency doubling to produce red light.

 

 

| Optics parametric amplification, oscillation (OPA and OPO) applications

 

3 and FIG. 4, due to the second harmonic effect and Optics parametric amplification performance of the KTP crystal, it plays a role as a core component in the output Wavelength adjustment (from 600nm visible light to 4500nm Mid Infrared (MIR) light) in the tunable Nd ion Laser Source.Generally, the OPO of the KTP crystal can achieve stable, continuous pulse output (signal light and idle light) at fs level with a Repetition Rate of 108Hz and a small Average Power level.Using KTP for Optics parametric amplification, the 1064nm pump light of Nd:YAG Laser Source can be converted into 2120nm light, and the conversion efficiency is as high as 66%.

 

 

| Application of Electro-Optical Devices

 

In addition to its Nonlinearity properties, KTP crystals also have the same characteristics as LiNbO.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The excellent electro-optic effect and dielectric properties of the crystal are widely used in electro-optic devices. Table 1 shows the comparison between KTP crystal and other commonly used electro-optic modulation materials:

 

 

From Table 1, KTP crystals are expected to replace the bulk application of electro-optic modulators with their high damage threshold, optical bandwidth ( > 15GHz), stable thermal and mechanical properties, and low loss.LiNbO-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Crystals.

Low-loss Optical Waveguide devices can be obtained by ion-exchange treatment on KTP substrates.This technology allows KTP to gain more applications in integrated optical circuits; Table 4 compares KTP with other Optical Waveguide materials.Recently, a class II SHG conversion efficiency of 20% / W / cm was achieved by balanced Phase matching.In addition, the segmented KTP Optical Waveguide has been applied to class I quasi-Phase matching SHG of tunable Ti:Sapphire Laser Source in the 760 - 960mm band, and direct frequency doubling of the 400-430nm output Wavelength diode Laser Source.
