BBO is a negative uniaxial crystal, its o-optical Refractive Index (nCe)than e light(nC.)The Refractive Index is large; Class I and II Phase matching can be obtained through angle tuning, and the SHG Phase matching is shown in Figure 2.

| InApplications in Nd:YAG Laser Source
BBO crystal has excellent performance on the quadruple frequency of Nd:YAG Laser 2. 3., and it is still one of the best choices for the five-frequency output of 213nm light.The conversion efficiency of double frequency is more than 70%, triple frequency is 60%, quadruple frequency is 50%, and the power of five frequency output 213nm can reach 200mW.The BBO crystal is also an ideal intracavity frequency doubling crystal for high power Nd:YAG Laser.Using the AR Coating-plated BBO crystal produced by us, 532nm light with a Average Power of more than 1 5W can be obtained in the acousto-optic Q-switched Nd:YAG Laser Source cavity frequency doubling.Using the 600mW light output by the mode-locked Nd:YLF Laser Source frequency doubling as the Pump Source, the BBO crystal with the end face Brewster Angle Cutting can obtain 66mW light at 263nm.Since the BBO crystal has a small acceptance angle and a large walk-off angle, the key to obtaining the ideal conversion efficiency is to use a better quality fundamental frequency light (with a small divergence angle, better mode conditions, etc.). We do not recommend focusing the fundamental light beam.

1. Dye Laser Source
Class I BBO crystal can efficiently output second harmonic efficiency> 10%, Wavelength ultraviolet light ≥ 206nm (205 - 310nm), and dye Laser Source with a Peak Power of 150kW pumped by XeCl Laser can obtain a conversion rate of 36% (about 4 - 6 times higher than ADP).The conversion rate of the shortest 204.97nm light obtained by the second harmonic is about 1%.
2. Ultrashort pulse Laser Source
In the 2. triplication of ultrashort pulse Laser, the performance of BBO crystal is better than that of KDP and ADP crystal.For such applications, we currently offer BBO crystals with a minimum thickness of 0.005mm.Under the condition of matching phase velocity and group velocity at the same time, the effective frequency doubling of 10 fs Laser pulse can be achieved with a thin BBO crystal.
3. Ti:Sapphire Laser Source and alexandrite Laser Source
Using the BBO crystal, the class I second harmonic of the alexandrite Laser can output ultraviolet light in the Wavelength range of 360nm-390nm.Among them, the Pulse Energy of the 378nm Wavelength Laser is 105mJ(31% second harmonic conversion rate), and the third harmonic can output ultraviolet light with a Wavelength range of 244-259nm, Pulse Energy 7.5mJ(24% mixed frequency conversion rate).The second harmonic conversion efficiency for Ti:Sapphire Laser can be higher than 50%, and its third and fourth harmonic conversion efficiency is also higher.
4. Argon ion Laser Source and copper vapor Laser Source
Using intracavity frequency doubling technology in argon ion Laser Source with a full-line output power of 2W, the BBO crystal with end Brewster Angle Cutting can obtain 36 deep ultraviolet light with a Wavelength range of 228.9 - 257.2nm and a maximum power of 33mW @ 250.4nm.The average output power of the second harmonic of the copper vapor Laser at 510.6nm can reach 230mW @ 255.3nm, and the maximum energy conversion rate is 8.9.
| Application in OPO and OPA
BBO crystals play an important role in OPO and OPA, producing a range of tunable coherent Laser from UV(355nm) to Near Infrared (NIR).3 and FIG. 4 are the calculation results of the tuning angles of Class I and Class II BBO crystals in OPO and OPA, respectively.
1.532nm pumped OPO
Using 532nm pump light with an input energy of 40 mJ and a Pulse Duration of 75ps, OPO output with a Wavelength range of 680 - 2400nm can be obtained in a 7.2mm long class I BBO crystal, with a Peak Power of 1.6MW and an energy conversion rate of 30%. The longer the BBO crystal, the higher the energy conversion rate.
2. 355nm pumped OPO and OPA
Pump Source at 355nm Laser, the tunable Wavelength range of the OPO system output using our BBO crystal is 400 - 3100nm, and the energy conversion rate Wavelength the 430 - 2000nm range is between 18% - 30%.Class II BBO can be used to reduce the linewidth, with a linewidth of 0.05nm and a usable conversion of 12% being achievable with BBO. In class II Phase matching, a longer BBO crystal ( > 15mm) is usually used to lower the oscillation threshold.Pulses pumped with 355nm picosecond Nd:YAG Laser and BBO crystal as OPA are characterized by narrow band ( < 0.3nm), high energy ( > 200 μJ) and wide tunability (400-2000nm).This OPA can obtain a maximum energy conversion rate of more than 50%, so many aspects of performance compared to ordinary dye Laser are superior, such as high conversion rate, wide tunable range, easy maintenance, simple design, simple operation, etc.BBO-OPO or BBO-OPA coupled with the second harmonic of the BBO, the system can achieve tuning in the range of 205nm-35nm.

3. Other applications
Using 308nmXeCI excimer Laser as the pump light of OPO, the angle tuning of class I BBO crystal can obtain signal light with Wavelength range of 422 - 477nm.Using the 266nm Wavelength generated by the fourth harmonic of the Nd:YAG Laser as the pump light, it is reported that a BBO-OPO complete Wavelength output from 330nm to 1370nm is observed.Using dye Laser pump with Wavelength of 615nm, energy of 1mJ and Pulse Duration of 80 fs, ultrashort wave pulses with Wavelength of 800 - 2000nm, energy of more than 50 μJ (maximum 130 μJ) and Pulse Duration of less than 200 fs can be obtained in OPA of two BBO crystals.
| Electro-Optic Applications of BBO Crystals
BBO crystals can also be used in electro-optical applications, with a wide Transmission range from UV(355nm) nm to 3500nm.
